Win friends is a mass-market book anyone can enjoy. The Social Skills Guidebook is the perfect book for the niche “People who want to be better at socializing but feel nervous and don’t know what to say around new people”. As a general rule, I don’t like lists of social skills tips. Usually, it’s much more productive to focus on big-picture principles than try to memorize an endless list of tricks and tips. But for How To Talk to Anyone, I am happy to make an exception.

Since people rave over the book, I’m sure it can still do good. Just be aware that it’s deceptive to trust made-up personality tests. I put it in the business category because I believe here’s where you’ll need these skills the most, but the principles are truly universal.

Make it clear that you are sharing your opinion, and you understand the other person may feel differently. Be sure to demonstrate that your relationship can still be strong if you disagree.
